Dr. Martin Genzel

I'm working as a Machine Learning Scientist at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB), Germany, affiliated with the department of Optics and Beamlines. I'm an applied mathematician by training, who is fascinated by the idea of solving computationally challenging problems in science by data-driven methods. My current focus is on exploring the power of deep learning algorithms for ill-posed inverse problems, computational/medical imaging, signal-processing, and low-complexity models. Prior to HZB, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Mathematical Institute of Utrecht University. Before this, I completed my PhD at the Institute of Mathematics of TU Berlin in 2019. My original background is in applied functional analysis, high-dimension probability, and compressed sensing.
